Monday, April 29, 2002 Okay, it's only been a bit more than a month since writing here, so the average interval is actually improving. It's not quite my goal of daily ramblings, but it's not perennial either. Was just looking at a fantastic blog site, joy.blogspot.com, and got a bit inspired to write. Now that's really writing. Wish I could write like that. At one point perhaps I could, but am more than a bit out of practice. So the house party was this weekend, and I guess that by the typical house-party metrics it was a success. I think the jelly-shot-on-arrival-ritual and crisps-on-the-wall were great for loosening things up a bit. As far as the crowd, there wasn't a heck of a lot of room for anyone else, and what a lovely attractive crowd it was. Seriously. The music may have had some issues (owing largely to my bizarre eclectic music collection) but the dance area seemed to remain pretty consistently active. Naturally I didn't get much of a chance to cut a rug, or chat with anyone at length, but that's just the catch of being the host I guess. The flat now feels well-and-truly broken in, and that's really the point as far as I'm concerned. Of course it's just a bit too broken in at the moment, with the still-sticky floors, broken curtains, and capless liquor bottles, but that will all be taken care of soon enough. The point is it feels a bit more like a home, complete with serial-killer-material upstairs neighbor, screaming that we tone it down at 8PM on a Saturday night. Let me repeat that. 8PM on a Saturday night. Does the phrase "get a life" come to mind? Looking forward to Tenerife on Wednesday for a bit of sun and sand. Mostly the sun actually, it doesn't as much get stuck in inconvenient places. Unfortunately heading out on my own which might turn out to be a bit of a drag, but again, sun sun sun. Haven't had any of that so far this year. posted by Karl | 11:02 AM | 0 Comments: |
